2019 Canada Winter Games Athlete & Team Staff Assembly
Jan. 30, 2016
Attention Coaches, Clubs, Synchro Partners
Athlete Info
For the 2019 Canada Winter Games Synchro Team NL, we feel the proper direction of the Athlete Training Pool is to be a TEAM-centered group of athletes who will utilize pool time at all clubs, but train solely as the CWG Team, starting next season. We cannot afford the huge strain on the athletes of having pressures of a home club as well as at a Games level. The only way to ensure the swimmers get exactly the training they need is to have them unite under one training group. Once a Head Coach is decided, the action plan can be put into place for training.
We are hoping to have a preliminary Parent Meeting at Provincials (basic info only) in Corner Brook, so that we may begin to prep everyone who may be interested in becoming part of the Athlete Training Pool about expectations and hopes that Synchro NL has for its 2019 CWG athletes.
Coaches & Training Staff Info
We would like to get an idea about the Coaching Team of our 2019 Canada Winter Games Synchro Team NL interest and to begin to cement the top two roles: the Head Coach and Manager positions. This is not the final stop -- we believe that in order to fully support both the athletes and the coaches, the team's Training Staff must consist of more than two people. It is necessary to not only have buy-in from all clubs in the Province, but to have buy-in from as many coaches as possible. Hands on involvement, directed by the Head Coach and Manager will be integral to a successful run in 2019.
At this time, we have Jackie Hiscock as Head Coach, and Alicia Vey as Manager. This will remain as is until everyone has had the opportunity to decide what role they would like to continue to play. (Both coaches are more than welcome to review their current standing and decide where their interests lie.) Jackie's involvement was integral to the successes of the 2015 CWG Team and we know that her talents will be a huge part of the next Games Team, should she like to continue.
We are proposing a Training Staff of diversified coaches for choreography, physical training, and technical skills training and want to involve as many partners as we can.
The Synchro NL Board of Directors is asking that any interested party please submit your synchro resumé and position of interest to the Board. Deadline for submission is February 12, 2016.
Positions Available: Head Coach, Manager, Figures Coach, Choreographer of a duet or solo, Physical Fitness Trainer (want to lead a running group, or yoga class, or weight training, we are open to suggestions!), Dance Instructor.
We encourage anyone with a skill to offer the pool of athletes to let us know that you are interested in helping. We are excited! We need to move on this immediately and are looking forward to hearing from our Synchro Partners to build a hugely successful team.
